A three-hour seminar was held at BMI Shenzhen Office on 29th June 2012 (Friday).  The seminar was about how BMI Business Services (Shenzhen) Limited develops and broadens its pool of oversea customers and investors and the kinds of services it provides to investors who are interested in capturing market demands in China and Hong Kong.

An exclusive Bloomberg training session for BMI Appraisals (BMIA) and BMI Technical Consulting (BMITC) was held on 4 July 2012. Analysts and consultants from both BMIA and BMITC participated with enthusiasm. During the time of training, Ms. Lynn Raebsamen from Bloomberg, an expert in commodity sector, shared her insights on the newly established platform of Bloomberg featuring functions which incorporated more in-depth market specifications, comprehensive data and instantaneous industry trends from different market sectors. Particularly, Ms. Raebsamen emphasized on the due diligence and valuation of assets in the Mining and Commodity sector in which BMIA and BMITC are playing a major role in Hong Kong and China.

Dr. Tony Cheng, Managing Director of BMI Appraisals, was honored to be invited to attend the “MAICSA Annual Conference 2012 - Moving Forward: Changing Perspectives” held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 9-10 July 2012 . In addition, Mr. Kenneth Ma, Director of BMI Appraisals Sdn Bhd, was invited to speak on a topic named “Brand Valuation”. There were more than 400 delegates from publicly listed company directors, company secretaries, senior management team, business practitioners, consultants, advisors and business professionals attending the conference. The conference featured the latest regulatory updates and development in governance.

Mr. Ma first introduced the overview of the intangible assets and the value created by a brand. Supplemented with case studies for different valuation purpose, he explained in depth the valuation approaches and methodologies on the brand. We had received numerous positive feedbacks from the audiences and created a platform for future communication.

On 14 July 2012, a seminar regarding food safety and commercial potential was held by BMI Corporate Advisory (Shanghai) Limited and Shanghai Jiao Tong University MBA student Club.

This seminar invited the senior experts on food safety to share thier views on the problems regarding food safety and the commercial potential in it.

The seminar was highly interative was concluded in high appreciation.

BMI Innovation Limited has recently organized and coordinated a 5^th Anniversary Cocktail Reception for the Institute of Accountants Exchange (IAE) on 16 July 2012 in the Banker's Club. The Cocktail invited Mr. Paul Chan, member of Legislative Council of Hong Kong, and Mr. LI Gui-kang , the vice officer of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, to be our Guest of Honors and has attracted more than 200 participants.

A seminar on the impact of tax reforming (From Business Tax to VAT)  was held by BMI Consultants (Shenzhen) Limited on 20July 2012.The fact that Shanghai was chosen by the State Council for tax reforming indicates that China has entered into era of service economy VAT. Shenzhen is expected to start the VAT in the latter half of the year.

This seminar helped corporates to master the significant changes in tax policy and tax environment. Therefore, the corporate can be better prepared for the changes and take proactive action. Appropriate control on tax costs and tax risks should be adopted to better manage the company's financial the situation after tax reform.
